As you probably know, getting lots of web traffic is pretty hard.  You have to be willing to work harder and smarter than the other people in your niche.  The good news is there are a few short-cuts when it comes to web traffic.  I prefer to break it down into two major categories:  Traffic to your landing page and traffic to your content site.  Let’s talk about both…
Long-Tail Keywords – specific keywords usually with 3-7 individual words in a phrase. They are highly targeted and MUCH easier to rank for than broad keywords (all mine are long-tail). The lower your domain authority (check using OSE), the less competitive (more long-tail) your keywords should be. If you can get more specific and the keyword still shows up in Google Autocomplete, Moz Keyword Explorer and other keyword tools… choose the SPECIFIC one.

The perfect landing page is an art.  You have to do a lot of tweaking before you’ll come across a design that gets a great response.  The important thing is pay attention to your opt-rates.  If less than 25% of your web visitors are subscribing then you need to make some serious changes!  Perhaps your offer isn’t good enough or maybe the design isn’t maximizing conversions. No matter what, keep working on your landing page till you get a quality opt-in rate.
For instance, you might use Facebook’s Lookalike Audiences to get your message in front of an audience similar to your core demographic. Or, you could pay a social media influencer to share images of your products to her already well-established community. Paid social media can attract new customers to your brand or product, but you’ll want to conduct market research and A/B testing before investing too much in one social media channel.
I liken this to a paradoxical Catch-22 scenario, because it seems like without one you can't have the other. It takes money to drive traffic, but it takes traffic to make money. So don't make the mistake that millions of other online marketers make around the world. Before you attempt to scale or send any semblance of traffic to your offers, be sure to split-test things to oblivion and determine your conversion rates before diving in headfirst.
If you have to earn $50-$100 commission you have to sell product of cost $500-$1000 (If you’ll get 10% commission). If anyone who is reading have the potential to sell product of this much amount then why not he/she should start selling his/her own product. And money ultimately comes when a service or product is sold! So if you can write an Ebook then write another which you can sell for money!
One of the disadvantages of working with a network is that they charge a commission, which is normally up to 30% of what you charge affiliates. For example, this is how it works: Brand C affiliate program might sell $1 million of clothing. They pay their affiliates 10% commission, so the total commission of the program would be $100,000. The affiliate network would then charge 30% override on this figure so the brand would pay $130,000. The affiliates would get the $100,000 commission and the affiliate network would get $30,000 override.

Think about the number of people querying search engines daily. Can you afford to miss out of this traffic? A popular method of promoting affiliate products is search engine optimization (SEO). SEO is all about a website’s visibility in search engines. SEO focuses on unpaid so called natural or organic search results. Any attempt at SEO won’t bring immediate results, but in the long run, it can be extremely rewarding.


A2 Hosting + HostGator – these affiliates let you create custom coupon codes which is a huge bonus if you’re doing YouTube videos. Tyler’s Moore’s video on how to make a WordPress site has 3.7M+ views and refers people to HostGator using his coupon code, which means he gets credited for the sale if they use the code (even if they don’t click his affiliate link). If you’re doing YouTube videos, coupon codes can result in a lot more sales than dropping links in video descriptions and hoping people click on it. He’s made a fortune.

At the end of the day, affiliate marketing is all about promoting someone else’s products and earning a commission by so doing. By all means, it eliminates the tedious process of product development, meaning you can easily set up your site and start earning in a couple of months. It also means you have more time to concentrate on content development and marketing.

Last week, I found out that all of my BuyCostumes.com links were dead (they are through CJ). When I contacted the affiliate mgr to ask why, her first response was this, “Hi Sandee, are you aware of tax nexus laws that have been passed in IL, CT, RI, NC and AR? Do you reside in any of these states?” I replied back that I live in IL and her second response was this, ” I’m so sorry. I had to terminate partnerships with IL affiliates as of June, 2011.” Then I emailed CJ to find out how I can tell which merchants within the network are still doing business in IL. Here’s the response I got, “If the advertiser accepted you, then that would generally mean that the advertiser has no problems with your state. You may always follow up with the advertisers directly, but them accepting you should generally be a good sign.”
