Using several strategies for product promotion is a very good idea because it gives you the opportunity to know which of them works better. You can do split testing and measure each campaign’s performance before taking the appropriate action. Changing a couple things would raise your profit. However, if you're going to understand online marketing, you have to understand the importance of building Google's trust. There are three core components involved here. These three core components are like the pillars of trust that comprise all of Google's 200+ ranking factor rules. Each of those rules can be categorized and cataloged into one of these three pillars of trust. If you want to rank on the first page or in the first spot, you need to focus on all three, and not just one or two out of three.
I find it fitting that I’m writing this post in Amsterdam.  Back in September 2006, I started my first official affiliate marketing site.  I worked day and night for two months, without making a dime.  Then in November I hopped a plane and joined my ex-girlfriend in Amsterdam.  We spent a few enjoyable days and near the end I checked my email.  What did I find?  My first affiliate sale!

The first mistake a lot of affiliate marketers make is that they register with too many different affiliate programs and try to promote everything. Pursuing affiliate marketing down this path can become very overwhelming and you won’t be able to promote any product properly. All you need in order to be successful is a handful of good products to promote. Try to understand the market needs and look for products that align correctly with the topic of your site.


Paid channel marketing is something you’ve probably come across in some form or another. Other names for this topic include Search Engine Marketing (SEM), online advertising, or pay-per-click (PPC) marketing. Very often, marketers use these terms interchangeably to describe the same concept — traffic purchased through online ads. Marketers frequently shy away from this technique because it costs money. This perspective will put you at a significant disadvantage. It’s not uncommon for companies to run PPC campaigns with uncapped budgets. Why? Because you should be generating an ROI anyway. So ultimately making money online is about actually getting people to your website, however you have to do that! And it’s not like people who own gas stations or restaurants or grocery stores. Instead of 90 percent of people who “enter the building” of one of those brick and mortar businesses BUYING SOMETHING, with websites probably only about 90 percent (or less) of ONE PERCENT of the people who visit your website (from my experience) buy anything. You need 100 times the amount of people to get the same amount of sales but your expenses can be a lot lower than a brick and mortar business.

Authority websites take years to develop so if you choose this model make sure you have other income streams coming in while you build it out. The monetization options for authority sites are only limited by your imagination. Advertising, straight affiliate marketing, 2nd-tier models, paid reviews, JV’s, are just a few examples of how to make income from authority sites.

Yes, it can seem confusing at first, but think about a regular business for a moment. If a business opens a store, then simply forgets to update things like its prices or product descriptions or anything else related to its core business, it wouldn’t be so reliable would it? If it changed its hours and forgot to tell customers, people arriving at specific times might get upset.


Affiliate marketers can use how-to guides offer simple and clear instructions showing readers how products work and how to perform specific tasks. These are often used by digital marketers because they provide clear value to their readers, and elevate you in their minds as an authority on your chosen niche. What’s more, these are often long form in nature - going into detail to cover complex topics can improve your pagerank in search engine results pages (SERPS).
The perfect landing page is an art.  You have to do a lot of tweaking before you’ll come across a design that gets a great response.  The important thing is pay attention to your opt-rates.  If less than 25% of your web visitors are subscribing then you need to make some serious changes!  Perhaps your offer isn’t good enough or maybe the design isn’t maximizing conversions. No matter what, keep working on your landing page till you get a quality opt-in rate.
